Hi, I’m Elodie, the founder of TranslationsEtc

I am a qualified lawyer with more than 15 years of professional legal experience.

I am a native French speaker holding a Maîtrise de Droit (a four-year law degree) from the University of Paris II Panthéon – Assas, a Diploma in Legal Studies from the University of Oxford (Brasenose College), and a Master in Laws (LL.M.) in corporate and insolvency law from University College London. I was admitted as a solicitor of England and Wales in 2008.

I began my career as a solicitor at Linklaters, a leading international law firm. I practiced in their Paris and London offices, where I was part of the corporate team for three years. In 2009, I moved to South Africa and joined Webber Wentzel Attorneys, a leading African law firm based in Johannesburg and Cape Town, where I practiced for 12 years in the corporate/M&A team.

During my legal career, I advised private and public companies, investment funds, and financial institutions on mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, corporate governance, and all aspects of corporate law. I also translated legal documents from English into French and from French into English and facilitated negotiations between French and English-speaking parties.

In September 2021, I decided to combine my legal and linguistic expertise and I established TranslationsEtc. My clients include international law firms, private equity funds, corporates, and individuals based on the European and African continents.

I am also a freelance translator (also known as lawyer-linguist) for the Court of Justice of the European Union (French into English).
